The Clubs, the Course, and the Power Cart...
So, I almost died this weekend! It's true, my golfing buddy tried to kill me!
Note to self: The Duke boys did not drive Golf Carts!
Ok, so it wasn't that glamorous. What really happened was it was wet and we skidded, and almost tipped over. Good to get the heart started on an early Saturday round.
I forgot how much fun, and frustration Brooklea is. This course is definitely one of my favorites now, and I am not sure why we havent played it more, other than the 40 minute drive to get there. The course is in good shape, the staff are quite friendly, and the holes give more than enough challenge; especially the long tight back nine.
The Titleist 980F is definitely a keeper. Nice smooth club, with no lack of power to it. I was hitting it as far as some hit their driver, and the nice high loft didn't hurt a bit. A tricky little club to get used to, but definitely a winner in my books. I was not as impressed with the Cleveland Launcher, but I admit the 3 wood is not one of my favorite clubs to hit. I will have to give it another shot this weekend.
BIG NEWS! Ping announced the launch of their G5 in September!
Check it out: www.pinggolf.com/flash/g5intro.html
They look much like the G2, so I don't expect much improvement over this already popular line of clubs. Just a nice new look!
This weekend is Heritage Hills, home to some really long and really cool hole designs. I will get some good pictures for you, and do another critique of this young course.
Keep your head down!
