Maxfli ICE, RED Max, the Grand Slam, and Mercedes Championships...

So, this week we begin the Grand Slam of Golf, hosted at Poipu Bay. Four participants were selected this year for their majors wins; Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Vijay Singh, and Michael Campbell, the first New Zealander to participate in this event since 1963.

The first day of this event is a ProAm, which this year Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson were unable to attend. Tiger is fighting a virus, and recovering from a sore ankle, while Phil has not made it to the island as yet because of personal issues. The tournament continues today and tomorrow for the 36 hole event.

Moving along, Kapalua resort has announced the Mercedes Championships will be played on the Plantation Course of their resort. This tournament takes place between January 2nd and 8th, and will boast the following qualifiers:
