The Bob Hope Chrysler Classic is under way...
The first round of the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic started today, and has brought out Phil Mickelson for his first tournament of the 2006 season.
This 5 million dollar event is a 5 day, 90 hole pro am tournament. This year, every past winner since 1996 are taking the field to compete.
This event is the only PGA Tour event played on four different courses. This year they are the 6,927-yard, Bermuda Dunes Country Club, the 7,060-yard La Quinta Country Club, the 6,950-yard Palmer Private Course and the 7,305-yard Classic Club.
This tournament is fascinating since the format for the tournament is pro-am play for the first 72 holes. On the last day of the tournament, the lowest 70 pros will play the final round. During the other rounds, each pro will be partnered with 3 different amateurs for each round.
