The Rock, a Nick Faldo design...

Hey Folks!

The next new review I will have put up on the site will be a review of "The Rock". This course, tucked away near Lake Joseph in Muskoka on beautiful Lake Rosseau, was designed by Nick Faldo who I have to say is a rather sadistic course designer.

I have never seen a course like this; as beautiful as it is torturous.

My advice, bring a sack of balls, because you will need them. The breathtaking scenery of this course belies the devilish design, and challenging lie of this course. Loaded with beautiful deep bunkers with fine white sand, huge masses of natural escarpment, and ponds galore make this course the most challenging I have played to date.

The course is in immaculate condition, and is a true thing of beauty.

Please, do not play this course if you are a high handicapper. This course is designed with the scratch golfer in mind, and requires a fair degree of skill in placing your shots; our starter said " This course is not for the John Daly 'Grip'er and rip'er' player; you will want to think out your shots, gauge your distances, and play with strategy". Although the bunkers are perfectly tended, the greens immaculate, and the forests raked, there is no lack of trouble for a stray shot.

The amenities are second to none, and this public course knows how to take care of their guests.

I would recommend this course to any golfer looking for a real challenge, and a beautifully crafted course.
