Nike continues to be one of the largest producers of high end golf balls; the Nike ONE series proving to be a worthy opponent to the heavily favored Titleist ProV1. Choose from the Platinum, Black, or Gold... It is a personal thing.

It is amazing what you can find walking through the woods... A couple weeks back, we were playing a round at a nice little local course. I shook one off into the woods, and had an opportunity to go and explore nature; or look for my ball if you want to be difficult about it. What did I find in my sylvan wanderings?

Well, I found my Callaway ball, but also a brand new Nike One Platinum. Always willing to try a new ball, I tee'd this one up at the next hole. Well, it looks like I may have found a new favorite ball.

This ball is one of the nicest I have had the opportunity to play. It has a nice soft feel, and is explosive off the tee. For driving distance, I have recently favored the Callaway HX Hot; however, it appears that I can get the same distance with more control with the Nike One Platinum. My major gripe with the HX Hot being a loss of control with big drives.

More importantly the soft feel is fabulous for chipping and for putting. In past, I would definitely favor the Titleist Pro V1 for any soft touch play; but not any longer. The One Platinum has about the same feel when chipping and putting as it's Titleist counterpart.

It is my opinion that some may choose Titleist, others Nike, but both will be satisfied. These balls are only slightly cheaper than the Pro V1, which may make them a really attractive alternative. I know that Nike has made me a believer with this fine line of balls.
